The Jabriyyah said: Intercession is only for the people of major sins, so that they may be pardoned and admitted into Paradise by way of grace.
Some of them said: The intercession of the Prophet (May Allah bless him and his family and grant them peace) for the people of major sins from his Ummah will cause Allah Exalted is He to bring them out from the Fire into Paradise.
The response to them is in His saying Exalted is He: “And those who have earned evil deeds the recompense of an evil deed is the like thereof, and humiliation will cover them. They will have from Allah no protector. It will be as if their faces are covered with pieces of the night, dark. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.” [Yūnus]
His saying Exalted is He: “They will have from Allah no protector” is an explicit text negating any intercessor or other than him.
And in His saying Exalted is He: “It will not be according to your wishes nor the wishes of the People of the Book. Whoever does evil will be recompensed for it and will not find for himself besides Allah any protector or helper.” [al Nisāʾ]
This verse is an explicit text negating any defender, supporter, or intercessor for the people of evil deeds from the Ummah of Muh ammad (May Allah bless him and his family and grant them peace), for the address is directed to the Companions, the Muslims, and the People of the Book.
And His saying Exalted is He: “The wrongdoers will have no devoted friend nor any intercessor to be obeyed.” [Ghāfir] and “And the wrongdoers will have no helpers.” [al Baqarah]
The Jabriyyah may seek proof from the exception in His saying Exalted is He: “As for those who were wretched, they will be in the Fire; for them therein is exhaling and inhaling. Abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord wills. Indeed, your Lord is Doer of what He wills.” [Hūd] They said: “Except what your Lord
meaning the removal of the people of major sins from the Fire through intercession.
We say: The exception has also occurred regarding those who were blessed: “As for those who were blessed, they will be in Paradise, abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord wills a gift uninterrupted.” [Hūd] There is agreement that the people of Paradise will abide therein forever and ever, and that the exception regarding them refers to the period before entering Paradise namely, the time of their standing in the gathering place. Accordingly, the exception regarding the wretched must be interpreted similarly to the exception regarding the people of Paradise. Differentiating between the two interpretations is arbitrary.
