B—His Description (Peace be Upon Him)

Al-Sayyid Abu T a lib said: He (Peace be UponHim) was fair in complexion, large-eyed, with joined eyebrows, well-proportioned in form, tall in stature, thick-bearded, broad-chested, aquiline-nosed, black-haired and black-bearded, except that gray had mixed into the sides of his beard.
He was likened to the Commander of the Faithful (Peace be Upon Him) in eloquence, rhetoric, and excellence, and he was known in Madī nah as the Ally of the Qur’an. Kha lid ibn S afwa n said: Eloquence, oratory, asceticism, and worship from Banu Ha shim culminated in Zayd ibn ʿAlī (Peace be Upon Him). I witnessed him in the presence of Hisha m ibn ʿAbd al-Malik while he addressed him, and his gathering became constricted because of him.
And it is narrated from some of the companions of Zayd ibn ʿAlī (Peace be Upon Him) who said: Whenever I saw Zayd ibn ʿAlī , I saw the lines of light upon his face. And some described him, saying: He was handsome, beautiful, refined, and the marks of prostration had left their trace upon his forehead.
