Question: A man said to another: “Do this work for me if you are knowledgeable about doing it, or if you are an electrician.” The man said, “I am an electrician.” The employer warned him about the danger of electricity. When the man began the work, the electricity seized him and killed him. What is required of the employer in that case?
The answer – and Allah is the One who grants success – is that the employer is not responsible for what happened to the worker, so no blood-money and no expiatory fast is required of him, for he is not a killer, neither by direct action nor by causation, nor did any act of reckless endangerment come from him. Rather, it is the worker who brought this upon himself. This is what appears to me, and Allah knows best.
