Question

Question: If a pilgrim omitted audible recitation (al-jahr) in the two rakʿahs of Ṭawāf out of ignorance of its obligation, or out of forgetfulness, and only remembered that after the Days of Tashrīq had passed, or after he returned to his homeland?

Answer

Answer—and with Allah is success: nothing is required of him. Indeed, even if he left the two rakʿahs themselves out of ignorance or forgetfulness until he returned to his homeland, nothing is required of him, due to the difference of opinion regarding their obligation. However, if he remembered—or was reminded—that he had not recited aloud in them after finishing them, or during the Days of Tashrīq, then it is incumbent upon him to repeat them, for the Days of Tashrīq are a time for them. The evidence for the obligation of audible recitation in the two rakʿahs of Ṭawāf is that the Prophet Muhammad (May Allah bless him and his family and grant them peace) recited aloud in them, and he said: “Pray as you have seen me pray.”
