Question: A boy at the stage of approaching puberty had uncles who were beautifying for him enmity towards his father and making him hate him, until he became filled with enmity and hatred toward his father. His father was sick, bedridden, and the only heirs he had were this son and the boy’s mother. This adolescent son entered upon his father when no one else was with him, and struck him a single blow on the head with a stick, and the father died from that blow. It was not a strong blow; had it been struck on a healthy man, he would not have died from it. The son concealed this and did not inform anyone; people thought he had died a natural death. Then the boy grew up, his intellect became complete, he benefited from admonitions and guidance, migrated to (the tribe of) Āl al-ʿĀmirī, felt remorse and fear, and wanted to free himself [from the guilt] and repent to Allah. He disclosed his story to me, while he is still concealing it from everyone else to this day, and he asked me for a ruling.

The answer, in accordance with how the question came, is as follows: the basic presumption concerning the son at the time of the killing is that he was a minor and had not yet reached puberty.
Accordingly, the killing is ruled to be accidental, and the rulings of accidental killing apply to it. The son who killed inherits his father’s estate; no fasting is required of him, nor is any blood-money required of him. That is because the heirs of the blood-money would be his uncles, and the uncles are the very ones who incited him against his father and drove him to kill him. The least that they should be punished with is being deprived of his blood-money. As for his mother, she will pardon her son, and he should ask her for pardon and forgiveness.
