Question

Question: A man, while performing the saʿy between al-Ṣafā and al-Marwah for ʿumrah, was harmed by the wind from the fans, so he covered his head because of that—what is required of him?

Answer

Answer: The person performing ʿumrah remains bound by the sanctity of iḥrām until he finishes his saʿy between al-Ṣafā and al-Marwah; this is the madhhab, as in the marginalia of Sharḥ al-Azhār. On that basis, a fidyah is due from him: either fasting three days, or charity—feeding six needy persons, each a half ṣāʿ—or slaughtering a sheep.
