Question
Question: A man found several graves in his farm when he dug deep with a loader. What should he do with them?
Answer
Answer: He should leave them as they are: not cultivate that area, not traverse it, and preserve their sanctity—if this is possible without harming the landowner. If leaving them in that place harms the owner, or the location is such that preserving the graves’ sanctity is not feasible, then it is permissible to relocate them to a place where their sanctity will be preserved and where there is no harm upon the owner.
We say this because it is related from many of the People of the House—peace be upon them—that they moved their dead from one place to another for interests similar to what we have mentioned.
