Question

His—Exalted is He—saying: “If they are poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty.” [Al-Nūr:32]. If it is said: A man may marry and yet not become well-off?

Answer

The answer: It has been said that the statement is unrestricted (muḥmalah), and an unrestricted statement is in the force of a particular (partial) one—i.e., some of those who marry become enriched.
It may also be said: What is meant is that Allah will fill their lack, satisfy their hunger, and cover their nakedness; and that is achieved by little or much, as we observe today: the poor eat and are satisfied and dress as the rich do, though the quality of food and clothing differs.
