Question
Question: A man is employed in a place where a plaque is hung that states “Affirmation of the Vision. We cannot change it, for the premises belong to those who hold that doctrine, and power lies with them. Is it permissible for us to remain in that job? Must we resign? What is the solution?
Answer
Answer - and Allah is the One who grants success: It is permissible to remain and continue in the job, on condition of attempting and contriving to have the plaque removed.
Yes: if what is written on the plaque are ḥadīths transmitted from the Prophet (May Allah bless him and his family and grant them peace), or a Qur’anic verse, then it can be interpreted; and once interpreted, it is not an evil that must be denounced. The same applies to other ambiguous verses and ambiguous ḥadīths.
