Family and Lineage

He belongs to a noble family and an ancient scholarly household, renowned for blessing in knowledge, gnosis, righteousness, rectification, and the abundance of active scholars and Imāms upholding the affairs of the religion.

They are the Banū al-Muʾayyad ibn Jibrīl ibn al-Muʾayyad ibn Aḥmad, through al-Hādī and al-Qāsim to al-Ḥasan al-Sibt and the Commander of the Faithful, ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, peace be upon them—the origin of purity and the source of virtue, lights within darkness, pegs of the rulings, banners of the religion, and lights of certainty; they are like the Ark of Nūḥ: whoever embarked upon it was saved, and whoever lagged behind it drowned and fell, exactly as the Master of the Messengers, peace be upon him and his family, informed.  Thus, this family was beacons of guidance whose light does not cease and whose impact does not vanish.
