Saturday, 18 April 2026 (1 Dhuʻl-Qiʻdah 1447 AH)
Question: A man sold another man a rifle for a known price, and stipulated upon him that he must not sell it, and that he [the seller] would buy it back from him for the same price and add a profit. What is the ruling on this sale?
Answer—and Allah is the granter of success: What appears to me regarding this sale is that it is not permissible, due to the stratagem and means it contains to arrive at usury; for although it is in the form of a sale, in meaning it is a loan that draws a benefit.
