[The mujtahid scholars of the Household in this era]

The answer: In the recent time there were two of the scholars of the Household: the great scholar Ali ibn Muhammad al-‘Ajri, and the great scholar Majd al-Din ibn Muhammad ibn Mansur al-Mu’ayyidi—may Allah have mercy on them both. They were among the Imams of knowledge and independent legal reasoning. And I do not know in our time anyone who equals them or even comes close to them. However, there remains a remainder of the scholars of the Household and the scholars of the Shi‘a whom I see as being between the two degrees of independent legal reasoning and following; through them the proof of Allah is completed over the servants.
