Question: What is the meaning of the hadith that he narrated in Al-Ahkam and it is his statement: Yahya ibn Al-Hussain (May Allah’s Blessings be Upon Him) : It has reached us from the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and his family and grant them peace) that he said: “The good vision from the righteous man is one part of forty-six parts of prophethood”. And he (May Allah bless him and his family and grant them peace) used to say: “Nothing remains after me except the glad tidings”. They said: And what are the glad tidings? He said: “The righteous vision that the servant sees, or that is seen for him, is one part of forty-six parts of prophethood”. Benefit us—may Allah benefit us—with your knowledge and your preservation.
The answer: Praise be to Allah alone, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet and upon his pure family. Thereafter: The Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and his family and grant them peace), at the beginning of Allah’s favor upon him with prophethood, would not see a vision except that its interpretation was realized. So he remained a period of time upon this state of vision, estimated as one part of forty-six parts of the period of his prophethood. As for the remainder of the period of his prophethood, it was by revelation; that is, the news of the heaven used to come to him by two ways:
1 - By way of vision, but it is a short period estimated as one part of forty-six parts.
2 - By way of revelation.
After the death of the Prophet (May Allah bless him and his family and grant them peace), the news of the heaven was cut off, and nothing remained of it except what was by way of the righteous vision that the righteous man sees, or that is seen for him.
