[On the Reward of One Who Recites the Qur’an for a Wage]

Question: A question has been asked about the one who recites the Qur’an for a wage: does he receive a reward for his recitation of the Qur’an, or is the reward entirely for the one who paid the wage?

The answer: The one who pays the wage has the reward of the recitation of the Qur’an, and the one who recites for a wage has the reward of his own recitation of the Qur’an; nothing of his reward is diminished.
It has been reported that the one who strives in doing good is like the one who actually does it, and it has been reported regarding performing ḥajj on behalf of another for a wage what indicates what we have mentioned.
And what indicates the permissibility of reciting the Qur’an for a wage is the hadith about ruqyah with al-Fatihah, and it is a well-known hadith.
