Wisdom of Commander of the Faithful (PBUH)

A man sleeps through grief, but not through war.

(A man sleeps in grief): His grief is his sorrow, and the point is that a man finds it easy to bear the loss of his children, so he sleeps because it is easy for him to bear.(And he does not sleep in war): The point here is that he does not sleep in the midst of plunder and theft, and he uses the term "war" because it is the likely cause of such events.

✳️ Question: Sir, is there a supplication or deed one can perform or pray for to guide one's children and spouse to perform and maintain prayer, to be devoted to religion, and to seek knowledge? We pledge our loyalty and obedience to you.

↕️ Answer: The righteousness of the parents is a reason for the righteousness of the child, along with praying for their righteousness even in colloquial language, and accustoming them to prayer and maintaining it from a young age….
